Whether you’re looking to break a sweat, or just meander through the jaw-dropping landscape, we’ve got the guide for you. Rich in tradition and history, Lake Como is a pre-alpine lake surrounded by an amphitheatre of mountains whose peaks reach up to 2700m high. Pliniana Hiking Trail

Discover Sereno’s spectacular 16th Century Italian Palazzo, Villa Pliniana, before embarking on a trail through part of the property’s 18 waterfront acres.

Duration: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

Alpe di Blessango

Take a short ride on the funicular from Argegno to Piagra and enjoy spectacular views of the lake and the nearby Alpine foothills of Como. Next, head off on foot from Piagra through the hazel trees to Alpe Blessango.

Brunate to Monte Boletto

The trail is easiest to access by taking the funicular from Como to Brunate. Venture through the village of San Maurizio and along a mule path (typical Italian mulatteria) before arriving in Monte Boleto. The path becomes increasingly challenging and steep towards the end so this hike is only recommended for experienced hikers.

Difficulty: Advanced

San Martino

Begin your journey in Cadenabbia, pass through the picturesque villa of Griante, and continue along the wooded path to the small mountain church of San Martino. The hike is easy and suitable for children, however, there is a sheer drop to the side of the path so please be aware.

Difficulty: Easy

La Via Dei Monti Lariani

This incredible six day hike is a Lake Como favourite for any experienced hikers out there. The route starts at Cernobbio and ends at Sorico, with stops at Val D’Intelvi, Val Menaggio and Valle Albano in between. The route is well marked with red and white markers, but it is important to research the route before beginning to ensure it is safe for the particular time of year. Piazzaga and Monte Piatto

This circular hikes is great for anyone wanting to explore some of the quaint villages in the area. The hike starts in Torno and passes through Piazzaga and Monte Piatto. Highlights include the Massi Avelli, which are tombs dating back to the fifth and sixth century.

Difficulty: Intermediate

Monte San Primo

This is an easy path characterised by hilltop views and grassy plains, which sees hikers trek through the Bellagio area to reach Monte San Primo. Your effort will be well rewarded with a view of the expansive Lake Como mountains as well as the Alps.

Difficulty: Easy

Sant'Amate and Rifugio Menaggio

This route boasts panoramic views and the chance to climb one of the most famous mountains in Lake Como. Starting at Breglia, this route passes the historical church Sant’Amate and reaches Rifugio Menaggio – one of the most spectacular viewpoints in all of Lake Como.  

Duration: 6 hours
Difficulty: Intermediate
