Nothing beats a holiday spent with your feet up, lazing under the Caribbean sun; cocktail in hand. That being said, we all know that a lot of planning goes into these moments of relaxation, and the last thing you want is to arrive at your destination without something you really need. That’s why we’ve compiled the essential St. Barth’s Packing Guide to ensure you touch down with everything you need for the ultimate island holiday.

Bathing Suits

While this seems like it barely needs mentioning, it’s often the most obvious things that are forgotten. Pack more than one bathing suit, since you’ll spend the majority of your time on the water’s edge. It’s the perfect place to model the season’s best styles and prints. The high humidity also results in clothes taking longer to dry, which is worth keeping in mind.

Evening wear

The glitz and glam of St. Barth’s nightlife is one of the highlights of this sought-after location, and the dress code is smart-casual for the most part. Be sure to pack your favourite cocktail dress or light dress shirt for a scrumptious candle-lit dinner or night out on the town.

Lightweight Clothing

With temperatures averaging 82 degrees Fahrenheit and 28 degrees Celsius, it’s best to pack a selection of items that are light and airy. The humidity can be high, so the more loose fitting, the better. Kaftans and sarongs are a popular choice, and a great addition to your poolside ensemble.

Waterproof gear

A light rainproof jacket or small umbrella are ideal for the light drizzle that offers a welcome respite from the heat in the afternoons. The light showers can easily be waited out indoors, but it’s best to be prepared just in case you’re caught out on a day of exploring.

Comfortable shoes

Make sure you pack some comfortable walking shoes along with your sandals for days when you venture further than the pool and explore the island.

Sun Protection

An essential on any St. Barths Packlist, we can’t stress enough how important sun protection is. While the sun offers welcome warmth for those from cooler climates, over-exposure can put a real damper on your beach holiday. Sun hats, lip balm with SPF and sunglasses are also important to shield your face from the rays. Guests partaking in watersports are advised to wear sunproof gear when out on the water such as rash vests and UV protection clothing.

Camera

From crystal clear waters to breath-taking views, there’s a picture perfect moment waiting around every corner in St. Barths. Show your friends and family just how much fun you had by bringing back a camera full of memories. Even better, pack a waterproof camera and capture all your snorkelling and water-sporting adventures too.

A note to remember that camouflage gear is prohibited in certain parts of the Caribbean, so if you’ve got any of those items, be sure to leave them at home.
